Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET)

The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET) is a state-level entrance exam conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Government of Maharashtra. It is designed to facilitate the admission process for professional courses such as Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Agriculture, Law, Medical, AYUSH, and Fine Arts in the state of Maharashtra.

Key Details about MHT-CET 2024

  • Registration: The registration for MHT-CET 2024 is open, and the last date to apply with late fees is March 15, 2024.
  • Exam Dates: The MHT-CET 2024 is scheduled from April 25 to 30 for engineering students and from April 16 to 23 for pharmacy students.
  • Eligibility: To apply, candidates need to have scored 45% in class 12 boards or equivalent (40% required for SC/ ST/ OBC category).
  • Exam Pattern: The exam has 2 papers carrying 100 marks each. For PCM, the first paper is Mathematics while for PCB, there is Biology. Paper 2 is common for both PCB and PCM- Physics and Chemistry.
  • Syllabus: The MHT-CET 2024 syllabus primarily covers class 11 and class 12 syllabus of Maharashtra State board.
  • Marking Scheme: Unlike JEE Main, there is no negative marking in MHT-CET exam.
  • Language Options: The exam is conducted in online CBT mode and 4 language options are available- English, Hindi, Marathi, and Urdu.

The MHT-CET is considered at par with JEE Mains in terms of overall difficulty level and subjects. Based on MHT-CET 2024 scores, qualified candidates have to participate in the counselling process for B.Tech/ B.Pharm/ Pharm.D admissions in 500+ colleges.
